MARC has spent two years working with area planners and elected officials, and using citizen input to develop Transportation Outlook 2040, the Kansas City region’s next long-range transportation plan. This important plan will guide transportation investments over the next three decades.
The draft plan is based on providing more travel choices, a well-maintained system, better connected land-use and transportation policies, environmentally sound decisions, and quality places to live and work.

As the planning organization for metro Kansas City, the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is required to develop a long-range transportation plan that guides transportation decision making and funding decisions over a period of several decades. Transportation Outlook 2040 will be the region's new plan looking ahead to the next 30 years.
