- Regional environmental mitigation strategy
Transportation Management and Operations strategies maintain and improve the safety, performance and efficiency of existing transportation infrastructure and service systems. These strategies included, but were not limited to: the use of Intelligent Transportation Systems to provide near real-time performance information between transportation systems, system users and system owners; traffic signalization and lane control; signs and pavement markings; intersection channelization; access management; high-occupancy vehicle lanes, facilities or services; parking strategies; and fleet-management strategies.
Regional environmental mitigation strategies provide an alternative to site-by-site mitigation for transportation projects. They are focused on multiple ecological, community and economic benefits by avoiding, minimizing, repairing or restoring, reducing over time, and compensating (as defined by the National Environmental Policy Act).
