Metropolitan Kansas City's
Long-Range Transportation Plan

MARC Transportation Director Mell Henderson

Welcome

Mell Henderson, MARC's Transportation Director

When it comes time to make important decisions about what the region's transportation priorities and strategies are, decision makers need input.

This is where you come in.

MARC has developed a new long-range plan — called Transportation Outlook 2040 — that will offer a comprehensive strategy for improving transportation choices in the Kansas City metro area. Your values, ideas and concerns shaped the priorities that are the focus of this new plan.

The long-range plan is essential to the health of our region. It will guide our investment decisions for the next several years and allocate billion of dollars to address transportation needs in two states and nine counties.

But, Transportation Outlook 2040 must be more than just a plan for maintaining and building infrastructure.

We must consider the role transportation plays in the region's environment, economy, social fabric and quality of life. It is inherently tied to land use, the protection of natural resources and the economy. We all have a stake in transportation decision making because the quality of our lives is tied directly to our access to jobs, services, goods and the people our transportation systems connects us to.

Your opinions will be very important in maintaining and updating Transportation Outlook 2040. There are many ways for you to be involved. First, join our mailing list so we can update you on the project and share details about upcoming opportunities to play a role.

I hope you'll share your story with us and let us know what you see for the future of the Kansas City metro area.
