Food Access

Having access to healthy, nutritious food is vital to maintaining health. MARC offers services to help area residents make healthy food choices.

Home-Delivered Meals

MARC works with vendors to deliver meals to homebound older adults. The meals are planned by a registered dietician to provide one-third of the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) of nutrients for adults. To be eligible, a person must be aged 60 or older, and physically or mentally unable to leave their home. A limited number of meals are available for those who are aged 18-59 and disabled. In some situations, an eligible person’s caregiver may also receive meals. Priority is given to those with the greatest social and/or economic need. Call 816-421-4980 to find out if you’re eligible for home-delivered meals.

Meals at MARC-sponsored Senior Community Centers

For older adults who are not home-bound, noon-time group meals are available at our Senior Community Centers.

Double Up Food Bucks

Double Up Food Bucks is an incentive program available to SNAP (food stamp) users that matches every SNAP dollar spent on fresh produce (up to $25 per day) with a dollar in rewards that can be used for more fresh produce.

Double Up Food Bucks is available at participating grocery stores and farmers markets in the Kansas City area and in participating locations in Kansas and Missouri.
