American Community Survey
Consumer Expenditure Survey
The most recent reports (Midwestern Region) are at http://www.bls.gov/cex/csxmsa.htm#y1112. Previous years are also available at this location. Annual surveys of consumers in the Kansas City MSA yield data on households' income and spending patterns on food, shelter, transportation, apparel and other necessities. Kansas City MSA surveys are available in the title of this paragraph from 1986-87 to 2003-2004 time periods. The Kansas City MSA was dropped from the survey as one of the select areas (2003-2004 was the last one) and has been aggregated in the Midwestern Region data since then. Only Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland and Minneapolis-St. Paul are currently reported separately in the Midwestern survey.

On July 21, 2011, the Dodd-Frank Act transferred HMDA rulemaking authority from the Federal Reserve Board to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). The CFPB’s new web site has a very easy to use tool to create the same or other custom reports if you need something not provided here.
