Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facilities

Collection facilities are available for residents to safely dispose their household hazardous waste. Locations are in Kansas City, Kan., Olathe, Johnson County, Leavenworth, Kansas City, Mo., and Lee's Summit.

Please note when appointments are required.

 

Kansas City, Missouri Facility

KCMO HHW Facility
Facility accepts: automotive fluids, batteries, fuels, household cleaners, lawn and garden products, pesticides, paint and related products, gas cylinders up to 5 lbs.
Facility does not accept: explosives, yard waste, medical waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders over 5 lbs., asbestos, tires, appliances
Hours: Thu., Fri. and Sat., 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Appointment Required.
Who can bring waste: No charge for residents of Kansas City and the Regional HHW Collection Program. You must bring an ID with proof of residency. There is a disposal charge per vehicle for residents of non-participating communities.
 
Lee's Summit Facility

Lee's Summit HHW Facility
Facility accepts: automotive fluids, batteries, fuels, household cleaners, lawn and garden products, pesticides, paint and related products
Facility does not accept: explosives, yard waste, medical waste, commercial waste, pressurized gas cylinders over 5 lbs., asbestos, tires, appliances, gas cylinders up to 5 lbs.
Hours: Open on the third Wednesday (2 p.m.-6:30 p.m., only antifreeze, batteries, motor oil and paint) of each month and the first Saturday (7 a.m.–noon)
April-November.
Appointment required.
Who can bring waste: No charge for residents of Lee's Summit and the Regional HHW Collection Program. You must bring ID with proof of residency. There is a disposal charge per vehicle for residents of non-participating communities. There is a 100 lb. limit.
 
Kansas City, Kansas Facility

Hours: Third Saturday of the month (April-Oct.),
8:30 a.m -1 p.m.
Who can bring waste: Wyandotte County residents only. You must bring an ID with proof of residency.
 
Olathe, Kansas Facility

Hours: Second Saturday of the month from 8 a.m. to noon, year-round.
Who can bring waste: Olathe residents only. You must bring an ID with proof of residency.
