SWMD OutREACh Committee
The MARC Solid Waste Management District’s Outreach Committee focuses on education-related activities, member development and promotion of district programs. This standing committee is made up of Executive Board and Management Council representatives as well as other interested parties.

Outreach Committee Initiatives:
- RecycleSpot.org - an online one-stop "spot" for recycling information.
- Recycling Information Line 816/474-TEAM – where people with recycling questions can get information by talking directly to a district staff person.
- America Recycles Day - assists in coordination of regional activities.
- Earth Day – the committee helps sponsor the annual Earth Day celebration and reaches several hundred visitors at its display booth.
- Seasonal campaigns – Each year, the committee puts together two to four seasonal outreach campaigns. Each campaign centers on one specific message usually presented in print and radio formats that gives the public options for changing their behavior.
- Choose Environmental Excellence – This program supplements the district’s outreach efforts.
