Data Collection
Energy audits, greenhouse gas inventories, and other data collection measures are very useful in deciding which energy efficient practices to implement. Here are some of the data collection methods our partners decided to employ.
Jackson County
- Performed energy audits on several county buildings, which resulted in renovations to the courthouse, jail, and two justice centers
- Over the lifetime of the fifteen-year project, the energy savings will pay for the up-front costs of initial improvements (1)
Johnson County
- Conducted greenhouse gas emissions inventories for both government operations and county-wide activities (2)
Kansas City, MO
- Conducted greenhouse gas emissions assessments for government operations and city-wide activities (3)
Lenexa
- Identified baseline data for energy usage in city facilities
- Developed a list of potential projects to improve energy efficiency, some of which have been completed through EECBG grant funding
Olathe
- Funded energy audit perfomed by Energy Solutions Professionals (ESP) through initial retrofit savings (4)
Shawnee
- Performed energy audit of the following city buildings: City Hall, the Civic Center, Fire Station 73, Parks Maintenance Shop, Public Works Shop, Safety Center, Town Hall, and the Visitor's Center (5)
