Academy for Sustainable Communities

Overview

The Academy for Sustainable Communities is a training program presented by the Mid-America Regional Council. The academy offers webinars featuring nationally known speakers focused on how the Kansas City region can serve as a model of sustainability by emphasizing environmental, economic and social success.

MARC's Government Training Institute provides the structure for the academy's courses, has a proven record of providing quality, affordable training opportunities to government and non-profit agencies in the Kansas City region.

Every year, MARC highlights examples of exceptional sustainability and resiliency at their Resilient Success Stories event, in conjunction with Climate Action KC.

Resilient Success Stories

The Mid-America Regional Council, in partnership with Climate Action KC, is proud to highlight success stories from around the region in innovation and commitment, green infrastructure and local government sustainability. Momentum is building throughout the region to transform our community in ways that create greater levels of climate resilience.

To embrace and accelerate positive change, our Resilient Success Stories event highlights policies, plans, projects and practices discovered among submissions from public, private and nonprofit sectors, and from interested community members.

Resilient Success Stories builds on years of highlighting "Sustainable Success Stories", and judges especially bring attention to efforts that focus on one or more of the seven categories within the KC Regional Climate Action Plan, including transportation, energy generation, finance and innovation, urban greening, healthy resilient homes, food systems, and industry and resource management.
