Workforce Development
Overview
Workforce development activities may be funded by (?), or support, many elements of the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act, including provisions targeting water, transportation, energy and labor.
The goal is to maximize efforts to incorporate workforce development and green collar job creation in the development of new programs, or in the expansion of existing initiatives.

The bill authorizes $3.25 billion for the Workforce Investment Act of 1998.

MARC's role
MARC is initiating a study to assess opportunities for green workforce development in the metropolitan area. The study, developed in cooperation with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Johnson County Community College, and the Metropolitan Community College, will seek to identify strategic opportunities for workforce development, beginning with assessments in the energy sector.
