Mid-America Regional Council's Eco-Logical Project Workshops: Linking Environmental and Transportation Planning
| Date: | Dec. 18, 2008 |
|---|
What you'll learn:
As the Kansas City region develops its new Long-Range Transportation Plan over the next year, it will be important to evaluate transportation policies in the context of new regional goals and aspirations, such as the shared vision of becoming “America’s Green Region.” Strong agreement exists among regional leaders on the need to better integrate environmental and transportation planning processes at the local, regional and state levels. An advisory committee is developing an action plan to transform transportation planning in our region in line with these newly-formed community goals and aspirations. You are invited to join the conversation with internationally-known experts and learn about other related successful community efforts across the country. Be part of the process to change how transportation plans and projects are developed by participating in a four-workshop series:
Workshop #2: Integrating Plans, Policies & Projects: December 18, 2008 - 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Workshop #3: Beyond Mitigation: February 9, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Workshop #4: Implementation Framework: April 10, 2009 - 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Registration is now open for Workshop #2, Integrating Plans, Policies & Projects.
Additional details regarding Workshops #3 and #4 will be forthcoming.
Integrating Plans, Policies & Projects: A Conversation with Aron Borok
In this workshop, Aron Borok, a Manager with Environment International Ltd. in Portland, OR, will lead an interactive discussion on applying new information gleaned from linking environmental and transportation planning case studies to the Kansas City region. He will draw from research recently conducted on successes and potential pitfalls in the areas of interagency collaboration, integrated planning, and on-the-ground implementation. Participants’ feedback will be reflected in the draft Linking Environmental and Transportation Planning Action Plan that was started during a two-day workshop in February.
