Sustainable Success Stories Presentations

Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Location: MARC Conference Center (map)
Fee: $30 for one session/$50 for both sessions

The Mid-America Regional Council in collaboration with the Kansas City chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the American Planning Association (APA), the American Public Works Association (APWA), and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), will host two events to showcase exemplary sustainability-related policies, programs, practices or projects in the Kansas City region and surrounding areas.

These sessions support the ongoing community dialogue focused on building a better understanding of sustainable development practices that have the potential to transform our community into “America’s Green Region.” The broad vision underlying that strategy reflects an evolving community receptivity and commitment to a “triple bottom-line” approach that integrates social equity, environmental health and economic growth.

These events will provide all of us time to recognize our colleagues for their accomplishments, to learn more about successful approaches that can be duplicated around the region, and to celebrate our progress in becoming “America’s Green Region.”

MARC and its partners will announce the top 10 outstanding projects October 1, 2008 that will present at one of the two sessions scheduled for November 6, 2008 and December 2, 2008.
