Identifying Needs of an Individual
Sometimes, when caring for an older individual or even for yourself, one of the biggest
challenges is simply identifying what programs and services may be useful.
Before you begin your search, it is important to have a clear understanding of what you're looking for.
Can he/she:
- Look after his/her personal needs? This includes bathing, dressing and going to the restroom.
- Walk on his/her own?
- Prepare his/her own meals?
- Do housework, including laundry?
- Take care of personal business such as shopping, balancing the checkbook and paying bills?
- Drive? Does he/she have other transportation options?
- Can he/she get assistance in these areas, if needed?
The Aging Services staff can help you identify programs and services that may be beneficial to you or a loved one.
