MARC solicits projects for public transit and human services transportation funding
January 30, 2008
The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is soliciting proposals for public transit and human services transportation projects to be funded through two Federal Transit Administration programs: Job Access and Reverse Commute and New Freedom. MARC is expected to award approximately $1.8 million in unprogrammed funds from federal fiscal years 2006 and 2007.
Job Access and Reverse Commute Program funds are available for operating expenses of projects that focus on transportation services that get low-income individuals to and from jobs and employment-related activities. New Freedom Program funds are available for operating expenses that support new transportation services and public transportation alternatives that go beyond those required by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
The deadline to submit proposal for either program is 12:00 noon Central Standard Time on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Eligible applicants are private, nonprofit organizations; state or local government agencies; and public transportation operators (including private operators).
