12th annual Quality Celebration honors early learning successes

More than 200 people gathered at Kauffman Conference Center on March 19, for the 12th annual Quality Celebration. The event recognizes the successes of early learning professionals and quality early learning programs in the Kansas City region.

At the celebration, 21 individuals were honored for earning an associate’s, bachelor’s or master’s degree in child development, with scholarship assistance from the Metropolitan Council on Early Learning (MCEL). The Quality Celebration also recognized the eight family care providers who gained national accreditation in 2008 and the 17 early learning programs that achieved national reaccreditation.

The master of ceremonies for the 2009 Quality Celebration was Jerry Kitzi, director of the Francis Institute, and the keynote speaker was Jovanna Rohs, assistant professor of early learning at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The Quality Celebration was sponsored by The Family Conservancy, the Francis Institute, Hallmark Cards, Inc., the Mid-America Regional Council’s Metropolitan Council on Early Learning, the Mid-America Association for the Education of Young Children, Partners in Quality, Project Eagle, United Way of Greater Kansas City and United Way of Wyandotte County..
