MARC is accepting applications for Transportation Enhancements projects in the Missouri metropolitan planning area through March 30, 2007. Approximately $4.9 million will be programmed for federal fiscal year 2008.
The Transportation Enhancements program supports projects that expand travel choices and make improvements to cultural, aesthetic, historic and environmental aspects of the transportation network. Applications must be sponsored by a local government or public agency, and must include a 25 percent local match.
Eligible types of projects include pedestrian and bicycle facilities, landscaping and scenic beautification, historic preservation, conversion of abandoned railway corridors to trails, and many other projects related to surface transportation.
A pre-application workshop will be held on February 21, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. in Room 2077 of the Metropolitan Community College Business & Technology Center, 1775 Universal, Kansas City, Mo. Missouri Department of Transportation and MARC staff will be on hand to answer questions about the application and project implementation process.
