On Friday, March 3, MARC hosted a roundtable discussion with Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Steve Johnson. This was a special opportunity for local and regional elected officials and environmental professionals to discuss issues with a member of the president’s Cabinet.
Approximately 35 attendees raised issues of local concern and asked questions about the EPA’s policy direction on alternative fuels, air and water quality, climate change, brownfields and energy conservation.
After a 24-year career at EPA, Johnson was appointed to the administrator post by President Bush last March. He is currently touring the EPA regional offices as part of the agency’s 35th anniversary celebration.
