New officers elected to MARC Board

At its January meeting, the MARC Board of Directors unanimously elected new officers for 2007. The new officers are:

Chair Gary Mallory replaces outgoing Chair Ron Shaffer, Mayor of Prairie Village, Kan. who has served since January 2005. Mallory presented Shaffer with a plaque of recognition and thanked him for his service to the region.

The MARC Board of Directors consists of 32 locally elected leaders from the eight member counties and the six largest cities in the region. The member counties are Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray in Missouri and Johnson, Leavenworth and Wyandotte in Kansas. The cities with board representation are Kansas City, Mo.; Kansas City, Kan.; Independence, Mo.; Lee's Summit, Mo.; Olathe, Kan.; and Overland Park, Kan. Board officers traditionally serve two one-year terms.
