Is your community ready for severe weather?

On Tuesday, March 27, the Metropolitan Emergency Managers Committee will host a Severe Weather Mitigation Workshop for local government officials. The workshop will be held in Room 249 at the MCC Business and Technology Center, 1775 Universal Avenue in Kansas City, Mo. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., and the workshop program will run from 8:00 to 11:00 a.m.
The workshop is designed for elected and appointed officials, city managers, planning and zoning staff and emergency managers. It focuses on considerations for local governments in regulating severe storm protection. MEMC, with assistance from the National Weather Service, FEMA, the Greater Kansas City Homebuilders Association and others, has developed a Model Ordinance Guidance Document to share with local communities.
