Development
Guidelines
- The Creating
Quality Places website provides a searchable, online database of
tools, including zoning ordinances, for use in implementing alternative
design principles developed as part of MARC's Creating Quality Places
initiative.
- Creating
Walkable Communities is a resource guide for local governments and
concerned citizens on how to make communities more walkable and pedestrian-friendly.
The report includes guidelines, suggestions and techniques. It is in
PDF format, requiring Acrobat Reader.
- The Successful
Small Cities Initiative at the Mid-America Regional Council
is intended to provide administrative, planning and informational
resources to smaller local governments as they respond to growth
and development pressures.
- The Transit-Supportive
Development report raises understanding of the relationship between
land use development (density and design) and community livability and
mobility.
Development Fees and Regulations
- Building Regulation Database: MARC, the Home Builders Association (HBA) and the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) have sponsored a development and building practices survey of local jurisdictions. This database of survey responses allows viewers to access information on building regulations by counties and municipalities in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
- Local Government Fee Database: This database allows viewers to access information regarding the types and amounts of fees charged by counties and municipalities in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
