State vs. Federal Disaster Medical Teams

To broaden their experience and expertise in disaster medical response and operations, local DMT members may elect — and are encouraged — to respond to national disasters through the National Disaster Medical System by applying to join the federal team.

Federal teams have the potential to be deployed around the country to large areas of disaster.
