MARCER Emergency Medical Services Scholarship
The Mid-America Regional Council on Emergency Rescue (MARCER) is composed of professionals in the emergency medical services (EMS) community. One of its goals is to ensure the highest quality of pre-hospital care in the Kansas City region. To help ensure this goal, the committee has established the MARCER Paramedic Scholarship Program.
The MARCER Paramedic Scholarship Program will annually award seven scholarships of $1,000 each to deserving residents or non-residents that are employees of EMS agencies of Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri and Johnson, Leavenworth, Miami and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Candidates must be 18 years of age or older and demonstrate a desire and commitment to serve the public as a paramedic in the MARCER region on successful completion of the program.
Applications will be accepted and reviewed twice each year. For the Spring 2012 process, completed application packets must be received or postmarked no later than March 2, 2012.
Application packets must include the following:
- Application questionnaire (see links below)
- Resume
- Copy of current EMT-B registry card
- Three letters of recommendation
- Proof of enrollment and good standing in an eligible paramedic training program

Selection of recipients will be made without discrimination as to race, sex, creed or national origin, and will be based on demonstrated merit and need. The most qualified candidates may be interviewed by members of MARCER. Scholarship recipients will be notified by mail. Funds will be dispersed directly to the training entity in the name of the scholarship recipient.
Guidelines
Basis: Dedication, passion, and desire to serve others as a paramedic.
Eligible Training Institution: State of Missouri or Kansas licensed/certified paramedic training entity within the MARCER region. (See list at right)
Applicant Age: 18 years of age and older.
Residency Requirement: Must live in Cass, Clay, Jackson, Johnson (Kan.), Leavenworth, Miami, Platte, Ray or Wyandotte county and/or work as an employee of an EMS agency in one of these counties.
Terms of Scholarship: One year
Scholarship Amount: $1,000 per year payable to the training entity.
Number of Scholarships: A total of seven scholarships will be offered in 2012.
