GIS Subcommittee
A Subcommittee of the Regional Homeland Security Coordinating Committee
The GIS subcommittee was formed in July 2006.
The KC Metro GIS Consortium works with MEMC to develop GIS capabilities at the local and regional level that support preparedness, response and recovery activities.
GIS professionals and local emergency managers will focus on three objectives in 2007:
- The acquisition of a shared data server that will support the distribution of GIS data including aerial imagery and critical infrastructure;
- The development of an interactive mapping application that will integrate with the WebEOC regional tools; and
- Scheduling a regional Homeland Security GIS Workshop that will facilitate communication between Emergency Response and GIS professionals.
