The Metropolitan Emergency Managers Committee (MEMC) will present its annual Safety City display at the 2009 Kansas City Remodeling Show on February 6-8, 2009 at the America Royal Center. Each year, Safety City provides local agencies with an opportunity to interact with children and families in fun and informative ways to communicate a variety of safety, planning and preparedness topics.

We are pleased to announce that the Pat Riha Productions at the Remodeling Show has once again generously provided the MEMC complimentary exhibit space to allow local agencies the opportunity to showcase emergency response vehicles, trailers and more importantly, to communicate a variety of safety, planning and emergency preparedness topics in the Greater Kansas City community, including the www.preparemetrokc.org website. More than 36,000 adults and children attended the 2008 show.

To be considered as a participant please complete the MEMC Participant Form no later than November 19, 2008.

Pledging Towards Safety City 2009
Pledging towards Safety City is dependent upon each agency’s budget which may include other financial contributions, volunteers or materials for use at the display. For planning purposes, please complete the form below indicating your agency’s decision to contribute towards Safety City 2009, email Lisa Elsas or fax form to 816-421-7758 by October 1, 2008. If you would like to be invoiced, please indicate the date you would like to be invoiced on the pledge form. Thank you in advance for your participation and financial support of this important community outreach effort.

Highlights of Safety City 2008
Safety City has been a combined community outreach effort of the MEMC, the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Mid-America Regional Council, National Weather Service, Local Emergency Planning Committee, Citizen Readiness Committee, MARCER, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and others to bring safety and preparedness information to thousands of Kansas City area residents.

Safety City Planning Meetings
Participating agencies of the exhibit are welcome to attend the Safety City Planning Committee meetings scheduled the second Thursday of each month (beginning January 7, 2009) immediately following the MEMC meetings at 2:30 p.m. The meetings are generally held at the MARC offices located at 600 Broadway, Suite 200 Kansas City, MO 64105.
