ICS-300: Intermediate Incident Command System covers incident management strategies for emergency response to all-hazard incidents that involve Incident Command System (ICS) coordination. This course utilizes scenarios and exercises within a team environment to facilitate participant discussion. Prerequisites: Successful completion of accredited ICS-100 and ICS-200.

Course Objectives:

  • Explain how the National Incident Management System (NIMS) Command and Management component supports the management of expanding incidents.
  • Describe the ICS event management process for supervisors.
  • Develop and implement the incident management process on a simulated
    Type-3 incident.

ICS-400: Advanced Incident Command System, the final course in the four-part series, provides training on the advanced resource management requirements of the Incident Command System (ICS). Prerequisites: Successful completion of accredited ICS-100, ICS-200 and ICS-300.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe how Unified Command functions during a multi-jurisdiction,
    multi-agency incident.
  • Explain issues that influence incident complexity and the tools available for analyzing an incident.
  • Describe the responsibilities of agency representatives, their reporting relationships and how they can be used effectively during an incident.

  • Section chiefs
  • Strike-team, task force and unit leaders
  • Division/group supervisors
  • Branch directors
  • Multi-agency coordination system/emergency operations staff

State and local emergency personnel should decide who within their organizations should complete this training.

Registration is open to emergency services personnel within the nine-county Kansas City metropolitan area: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri and Leavenworth, Johnson, Miami and Wyandotte counties in Kansas.
