News ConferenceCourse Description

Review the basics of crisis communications and advance your knowledge and skills to effectively communicate with the public during a crisis. Discuss your organization's current crisis plan and its role in handling the crisis, what the public and the media need to know, and how to do your best during an interview while delivering your organization’s key messages.

You will have the opportunity to practice what you learn with exercises that will be reviewed by the session facilitator and other class participants.

Course Objectives

  • Develop and structure key message points and distribute vital information during an emergency.
  • Learn principles of emergency risk communications.
  • Find out how to work with the media to accomplish the goals of your emergency communication plan during a crisis.

Who should attend:

Public health and public information officers who are responsible for developing a communications plan and who will or might prepare and deliver messages before, during and after an emergency.
