Who should attend:
Pre-Workshop: Social Media 101:Taught by local social media experts, this pre-workshop is for emergency responders who want hands-on training and step-by-step instruction on creating and using social media accounts. You'll learn how to use these tools to share your agency's emergency preparedness and response messages. Equipment Requirements: Please bring your own laptop. Computers will not be provided. • FULL– No longer accepting registrations for this session.. Social Media Tabletop Exercise:You will gather intelligence during various threat and hazard scenarios using controlled social media accounts. Then you will develop responses and communicate in real time using social media best practices. This tabletop exercise meets the objectives outlined in Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation (HSEEP) guidance, National Incident Management System (NIMS) and the National Preparedness Goals in accordance with PPD-8. Prerequisites: Completion of ICS300 and a basic understanding of social media sites or the Social Media 101 pre-workshop is recommended. Midwest Disasters 2.0 Seminar:Learn to strengthen your organization's preparedness planning and proactively communicate with citizens using social networking tools in the event of a terrorist attack or other emergency. • Limited to 200 participants. IMPORTANT: Priority registration is reserved for emergency services personnel within the nine-county Kansas City metropolitan area: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte and Ray counties in Missouri and Leavenworth, Johnson, Miami and Wyandotte counties in Kansas. Due to grant requirements, we are not able to accept registrations from outside the states of Kansas or Missouri. |
