Local Government Finance
Local finance managers,
working under the auspices of the Managers Roundtable, have played an
advisory role in the development of host of tools that allow cities and
counties to compare their own financial information with other entities.
The local government finance project includes:
- Two tables that show tax rates for cities and counties in the metro
area and a comparison of retail sales by county from 2000 to 2007.
- A searchable
database that contains information about revenues, expenditures,
indebtedness and funds for various levels of government, including counties,
cities, townships, special districts and school districts in the region.
- A fee
database that contains building permit fees and planning and zoning
fees for local governments.
- The retail sales
and sales tax dependency report and charts provide information on trends
for local governments in retail sales, proportionate capture of retail
sales, and sales tax dependency (the extent to which local governments
depend on sales taxes for revenue).
