Demographic Data
Paint the Town is designed to paint land use change each decade. From the changes in land use, it then calculates the associated change in population, households and employment based on the attributes of each paint chip, which include density, persons per household, square feet per employee and vacancy rates.
To produce a forecast of the level of population, household and employment in a future year, however, Paint the Town requires a base to which the calculated change can be added. The base year for Paint the Town is 2000, and data from the 2000 Census provides the needed base. This data is provided by transportation analysis zone, or TAZ.

In Paint the Town, this TAZ data is called the Demographic Data. Note that each forecast by TAZ becomes the base demographic data for the succeeding forecast interval.
