Performance Measurement Project


*GIF Staff:* Dean Katerndahl Program Director Rita Parker Regional Purchasing Cooperative Program Coordinator	MARC Home > Government Innovations Forum > Projects > Performance Measurement Project Eleven cities in the Kansas City metropolitan area, along with the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC), the region's council of governments, developed the Kansas City Performance Measurement Pilot Project. By approaching performance measurements in a cooperative manner the participating cities were able to reduce the costs of expert assistance to their individual governments, were able to learn about performance measures, were able to share information among staff, and were able to compare results to those of other communities going through the same process. The participants in the program are: Grandview, Missouri Kansas City, Missouri Lawrence, Kansas Leawood, Kansas Lee's Summit, Missouri Lenexa, Kansas Liberty, Missouri Olathe, Kansas Overland Park, Kansas Shawnee, Kansas Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) provided administrative coordination and data collection and analysis. The coalition of cities contracted with Mark Abrahams and Sheila Shockey to provide technical assistance, analysis, reporting, and training. Also an executive summary has been produced. Conclusions and lessons learned can be found in the executive summary. The project made its final report to the Managers' Luncheon on October 4, 2002. A PowerPoint presentation presented to the Managers' Luncheon not only summarizes the project, but provides valuable background information on the development and use of performance measures.
