GIS and Incident Management

Managing geospatial data is an important part of each of the five main areas of incident management defined in the National Preparedness Goal:

GIS files contain layers of important information, including road maps, locations of critical facilities, utility lines, evacuation routes and much more. At the project kickoff meeting and community worksessions, information was collected to help draft a strategic plan that meets local government needs and complies with federal incident management standards.
