Certified Public Managers Certificate Program
A program for state, city, county, and federal managers
The Certified Public Manager certificate is a nationally recognized emblem of management excellence.
The Certified Public Manager Program was developed in 1993 in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Administration and the University of Kansas Public Management Center. More than 600 public managers have completed certification through the program. Mid-America Regional Council is pleased to have co-sponsored the CPM program in Kansas City since 2000.
The design of the CPM Program complies with guidelines and standards established by the National Certified Public Manager Consortium and its curriculum requirements.
Schedule and location
Over the course of this year-long program — which begins in January and concludes with a December graduation — candidates attend classes on a consecutive Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday (24-hour blocks) for 12 consecutive months, for a total of 288 contact hours. If a student misses one of the course modules, s/he will be required to complete that course module at another site or wait until it is offered the following year.
Cost
The cost for the CPM program is $2,700 per participant. The fee includes tuition and materials.
Credit
Graduates of the program may be eligible to receive up to 15 semester hours towards a baccalaureate degree or nine semester hours towards a Public Administration, Management or Human Relations graduate degree. Please note that advanced degree holders are not exempt from any part of the CPM program.
