Cascading Style Sheet Basics
Building Web sites on a professional level increasingly leads to the use of Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS. CSS allows the Web site designer and developer to control colors, typography, and layouts, while using HTML to control the content. Our sites are much easier to manage and update with CSS, because the content is separated from the presentation of the content.
We start by examining the simple syntax of CSS and the methods to link our Web pages to our styles. We'll continue with colors. Color is also the simplest part of CSS, so it's a great place to get started. We'll continue with typography using text and font properties. You will then explore the layout-oriented styles of CSS, including margins and padding.
