Registration Policies

You may register for any GTI courses or events in one of several ways:

Cancellations and Refunds

If you register for a course but cannot attend, you may cancel your enrollment by mail, e-mail or telephone up to five business days prior to the class and receive a full refund of your registration fee. You may substitute or transfer to another class, but you must do this prior to the five day cancellation window in order to avoid the charge for the original class.

Walk-ins are welcome, but pre-registration is preferred.

Exceptions to this policy may be authorized by the program manager.

GTI Member, Non-member and Non-profit Pricing

GTI offers two pricing categories for most classes: Member and Non-member.

GTI Members are those municipal and county governments and agencies which have paid an annual membership fee, affording their employees a 15% discount off the Non-member fee on most GTI courses. Please contact the GTI office if you are unsure if your organization is a GTI member.

For our Computer, Desktop/Web Publishing and some Workforce Development classes, we also offer a Non-profit rate. This rate is usually calculated at 1/2 the Non-member rate for the class. For our purposes, a non-profit organization is a charitable organization that currently holds a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status granted by the Internal Revenue Service. Governmental or quasi-governmental entities do not qualify for the non-profit rate. If you are unsure of your organization’s non-profit status, please contact GTI.

Confirmation Notices

A confirmation notice with the date, time, location of the class, parking instructions and map will be sent to participants whose registration is received five business days prior to the seminar.

Certificates/CEUs

A certificate of completion with the number of continuing education units (CEUs) earned will be issued upon successful completion of the course.

Inclement Weather

If the GTI staff determines that classes or events need to be cancelled due to inclement weather, a decision will generally be made by noon the day before the class is scheduled to meet so that we may contact participants at their workplaces. We will also place a cancellation announcement on the GTI Information Line, 816/701-8398 and on the GTI Web site.

If the weather deteriorates significantly after our noon deadline, we will do our best to inform our students. If you have any doubt about whether the roads are safe for travel, please stay home.
