Our Story

The RHCI has just published The Safety Net Story (pdf), full of information about the uninsured and underinsured in the Kansas City region.

Based on a study completed by Health Management Associates the project is working on this issue on three fronts:

  1. developing a virtual health plan among safety net providers
  2. making sure the region is fully utilizing federal and state programs, and
  3. increasing insurance coverage for those currently uninsured.

The project is addressing these priorities by building on existing community programs and initiatives. It is also bringing together stakeholders with the appropriate technical assistance to develop and implement strategies to address the issues associated with the uninsured.
