About the Regional Health Care Initiative
Building partnerships that offer quality health care to the underserved.
The Regional Health Care Initiative (RHCI) sponsored by the Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is a regional initiative promoting innovative, collaborative approaches to providing health care to the uninsured and medically underserved. This initiative is funded through the REACH Healthcare Foundation and the Health Care Foundation of Greater Kansas City.
Key components of the initiative include:
- Behavioral Health
RHCI staff are working closely with behavioral health stakeholders in the Kansas City region to help identify opportunities to strengthen, improve access to and more closely integrate mental health, substance abuse, correctional, developmental disability and physical health care services.
- Safety Net Collaborative
The Collaborative’s primary mission is to provide health care to the uninsured and underinsured residents of the bi-state Kansas City region. Key areas of work are an analysis of the capacity of the safety net system to meet the needs of the uninsured; advocacy for the protection of Medicaid and funding; support for recruiting and retaining health care providers for Safety Net programs; and continued support for working on care coordination and system navigation. - eHealthAlign
eHealthAlign is the Kansas City region’s community-based health information exchange organization. Developed by a consortium of community leaders from around the region. The goal of eHealthAlign is to improve patient outcomes through care coordination. Physicians and their patients will have timely access to information for healthcare decision making.
The principal focus of the Regional Health Care Initiative is to facilitate system change in the provision of quality, affordable, accessible health care for the uninsured and underserved — resulting in improvements to access to health care for the uninsured, the quality of care and system capacity.
