Safety Net Working Group
The Safety Net Working Group has two principal charges:
- Develop a vision and set of principles for what a successful safety net system should look like. This target will guide the activities of the working group.
- Implement specific initiatives that will assist in achieving the vision. The medical home model is recommended to guide the initial strategies and activities of the working group.
The Safety Net Working Group addresses a number of different initiatives. Subgroups, which include people with expertise outside of the working group, have been formed to address specific issues. Depending on the issues, the working group may invite individuals representing different interests to join in the discussion of specific initiatives.
The Regional Health Care Initiative will also form a working group to address expanding coverage for the uninsured and will work with stakeholders on improving the flow of federal funds into the safety net system and other elements of health reform that impact care for the uninsured and underserved.
