Job Opportunity: Emergency Services Planner II Description and Requirements:The Mid-America Regional Council (MARC) is the association of city and county governments and metropolitan planning organization serving the Kansas City region. MARC seeks a planner to perform professional and administrative duties related to MARC’s emergency services programs. The work requires research, meeting facilitation and presentations, problem-solving, and in-depth discussion and/or persuasion in order to gain concurrence or resolve problems. There is direct interaction with government officials across disciplines (law enforcement, EMS, public health, fire service, public works, and emergency management), the general public, and other agencies. Under the supervision of the Emergency Services Planning Manager and direction from the Metropolitan Emergency Managers Plans Committee, the planner will support the following initiatives and special projects: Assist the Plans Subcommittee to prepare and update regional emergency preparedness and response plans to

A Bachelors degree in public safety, emergency management, public administration or a related field is required. Applicants should have a minimum of one year of successful and progressively responsible related work experience, preferably with a public agency. Additional requirements: knowledge of public safety and emergency preparedness planning and management; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; ability to deal with diverse constituencies; experience working with committees or boards; strong organizational skills; thoroughness and attention to detail; and ability to handle multiple demands. Salary/Benefits: The starting salary for this position is $36,388 to $45,490, depending upon qualifications. MARC offers a competitive benefits package and a team-oriented work environment.
