Annual surveys of consumers in the Kansas City MSA yield data on households' income and spending patterns on food, shelter, transportation, apparel and other necessities. Surveys are available from 1986-87 to 2003-2004 time periods.

Council for Community and Economic Research (C2ER - formerly ACCRA) Cost of Living Indicators for Kansas City and Select Peer Metro or City Areas (205k, updated 02/01/12)
The C2ER Cost of Living Index measures the cost, relative to a national average, of achieving a particular standard of living at a particular point in time, not whether the cost of achieving that standard of living is going up or down over time. This data set compares the Kansas City metro to a number of peer areas on a quarterly basis, thropugh the 2011 Annual Average.

Market Absorption of Apartments (Survey) (60k, updated 12/24/07)
Measures how soon privately financed, non-subsidized, unfurnished units in buildings with five or more units are rented or sold (absorbed) after completion. In addition to the Kansas City Metropolitan Statistical Area, this database includes peer and other metros.
Metro Area Exports (26k, updated 8/15/02)
This database is the US Census Bureau's Exporter Location (EL) series, and runs from 1993 to 1999. It allocates exports based on the location of the exporter of record, not necessarily the entity that produced the merchandise. (Note: The Office of Trade and Economic Analysis, International Trade Administration, US Department of Commerce, has discontinued this series. No new source for these data has been identified.)

Poverty Estimates (276k, updated 12/01/11)
US Census Bureau estimates of people in poverty, food stamp recipients, and median household income from the decennial censuses, the annual Current Population Survey, and the annual American Community Survey. Estimates are for Kansas and Missouri, the counties in the Kansas City MSA and CSA, and Douglas County, KS, from 1989 through 2010.
Poverty Estimates by School District (233k, updated 12/01/11)
US Census Bureau estimates of children in poverty since 1995 through 2009 by school district.
