FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE –September 16, 2009

Area health departments offer seasonal flu shots and test response capabilities

As this influenza season approaches, flu clinics are an ideal means of testing plans, clinic capabilities, and preparedness for public health emergencies. Flu shots are also the best way to protect you and those around you from the seasonal flu. Those who get vaccinated for the flu are far less likely to get sick or give it to friends, family or coworkers.

Area public health departments will test their ability to respond to major emergencies on September 21, 2009, by cooperating and coordinating region-wide flu shot clinics. This is the second year that all of the area health departments and many area health care providers are collaborating for this event.

Prices, participation, and hours of each clinic vary by jurisdiction. Go to http://www.preparemetrokc.org/Be_Prepared/flushotclinics.asp for full clinic details, or see below for the clinic closest to you.
