Why: Elected leaders from Johnson and Wyandotte counties and the cities of Overland Park and Mission will discuss plans for implementing approximately $20.8 million of the Kansas City region’s $50 million federal TIGER grant award for transit-related improvements in the Metcalf Avenue/Shawnee Mission Parkway and State Avenue corridors — identified in the Smart Moves regional transit vision. TIGER funds will support infrastructure improvements, including additional transit centers, better pedestrian access to transit facilities, bus stop improvements, and traffic signal priority for buses.
The grants are funded by federal stimulus dollars as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
