Who has the smartest carpool in Kansas City?
Register for RideShare’s commuter trivia contest by April 15
So far, approximately 50 carpools representing 125 commuters in Greater
Kansas City have registered for the Smartest Carpool contest,
hosted by the Mid-America Regional Council’s RideShare program. The
contest will run April 19–23, challenging Kansas City area carpools to tackle
transportation trivia on the morning commute.
Carpooling is a smart commute option for the many benefits it offers: saving
money and vehicle wear and tear, reducing commute stress and air pollution,
developing new friendships, and keeping regular work hours — to name a few.
Now RideShare is looking for carpoolers to show off their smarts in a new
way!
Participating carpools in the contest will earn chances to win daily prizes for each correct trivia answer they submit. Every correct answer will also earn them an additional chance to win the grand prize drawing. RideShare will reveal trivia answers and the winning carpool team every afternoon.
- Monday (Carpool Comfort day) – neck pillows for each member of the winning carpool.
- Tuesday (Car Parts day) – $25 gift card to O’Reilly’s Auto Parts to each member of the winning carpool.
- Wednesday (Car Go day) – $25 gift card to QuikTrip for each member of the winning carpool.
- Thursday (Car Care day) – $25 gift cards to Jiffy Lube for each member of the winning carpool.
- Friday (Dream Commute Day) – One lucky carpool will win a luxury “limopool” ride to work, courtesy of Pech Limousine.
For drive-alone commuters who have considered carpooling, the week-long Smartest Commute contest is a perfect opportunity to try it on a limited basis. Interested participants can contact neighbors or co-workers, or use RideShare’s online ride-matching tool to do a free, confidential search for carpoolers who live near them and have similar travel schedules.
Complete contest details and registration are at www.marc.org/rideshare/smartestcarpool.htm. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 15. The first 200 registered participants will receive a free chamois towel.
