Regional Leadership Awards to honor government and civic leaders
Recipients will be recognized at a regional event Wednesday, Sept. 16
At its 13th Annual Regional Assembly, the Mid-America Regional Council will honor six regional leaders who have advanced a vision of a strong, healthy region; demonstrated a commitment to its environmental, social and economic vitality; and encouraged others to support that vision. The event will be held Wednesday, Sept. 16, from 3–5:30 p.m. at The Little Theater, 301 W. 13th St., Kansas City, Mo.
The 2009 Regional Leadership Awards honorees are:
The keynote speaker will be Angela Glover Blackwell, founder and CEO of PolicyLink, a California-based research and action institute for economic and social equity. As a national authority on poverty and equitable development, Blackwell is a frequent guest on programs such as ABC's Nightline, NOW with Bill Moyers and National Public Radio. Her work has appeared in the opinion pages of The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and the San Francisco Chronicle, and she has lectured before audiences at the Chautauqua Institution, the State of the Black Union and the Aspen Ideas Festival.
