Missouri Recycling Association Announces Missouri Recycles Day Poster Contest Winners
The Missouri Recycling Association (MORA) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2007 Missouri Recycles Day Poster Contest. Over 4,500 students from across the state participated in this contest organized by the Missouri Recycling Association.
The statewide contest was open to school-aged children from kindergarten through 12th grade. The grand prize winner, Tyler Aulbur of Westran High School, Huntsville, will be awarded a $200 US savings bond. His poster and slogan will be featured on the 2008 Missouri Recycles Day Calendar.
MORA plans to print a 2008 Missouri Recycles Day calendar featuring all first and second place winning posters. All winners will be recognized at a ceremony at the State Capitol in Jefferson City on February 28, 2008. Local winners were Sherelle Jackson, 2nd place, a 2nd grader at Meadow Lane Elementary School in Lee’s Summit, and Tierney Powell, Honorable Mention, a 10th grade student at Notre Dame de Sion High School in Kansas City, Mo.
The contest was held to commemorate the 11th annual Missouri Recycles Day on November 15, 2007. This event is held each year in conjunction with America Recycles Day when thousands of people across the state and nation celebrate the success of recycling and make a commitment to keep recycling working.
