Ray County residents have ample recycling opportunities
Do you want to recycle, but don’t know what’s recyclable and where to take it? Ray County residents have many opportunities to recycle both curbside and at recycling centers.
The following programs all recycle mixed paper, aluminum and tin cans, and #1 and #2 plastic bottles. Other acceptable items vary from program to program.
Drop-off recycling centers in Ray County:
Curbside recycling is available to residents who live in the following Ray County cities: Hardin, Richmond and parts of Excelsior Springs in Ray County. If you do not already have a recycling bin, call your city hall. If your city is not listed here, contact your trash hauler to see if curbside recycling is available.
“In our most recent survey, two of the biggest reasons people gave for not recycling is that they didn’t know what they can recycle and where to take materials,” says Matt Riggs, Outreach Coordinator for the MARC Solid Waste Management District. “Given the importance of recycling and the fact that about 80 percent of our trash is recyclable, it’s crucial that every resident know about the many opportunities they have to recycle.”
Recycling creates jobs, reduces greenhouse gas emissions, helps to sustain the environment for future generations, and conserves energy, landfill space and natural resources.
