9-1-1 Day, 2007

The 2007 9-1-1 Day at the Ballpark was a big hit with Kansas City 9-1-1 telecommunicators as the event brought more people out to the game than in any previous year. Nearly 600 elected officials, MARC staff, 9-1-1 dispatchers and their families packed into Community America Ballpark over the Labor Day weekend to be a part of the T-Bones’ second largest crowd in team history.

Before settling in to the lively game, those in attendance enjoyed a centerfield barbeque meal and were given the opportunity to explore a number of emergency and military vehicles, including several Humvees, a D.A.R.E. car and a military Chinook helicopter. An F-18 flyover also buzzed over the top of the ballpark prior to game time. A number of emergency personnel and military officials participated in color guards and threw out honorary first pitches.

The T-Bones coordinated their “Heroes Night” with this year’s 9-1-1 Day at the Ballpark to honor all the members of the military, law enforcement, firefighters, EMS workers and 9-1-1 responders who provide citizens with the freedoms and safety they enjoy every day.
