MARC invites public safety personnel to annual 9-1-1 Telecommunicators Appreciation Celebration

February 12, 2007

Mark your calendars for the 10th Annual 9-1-1 Telecommunicators Appreciation Celebration to be held on Friday, April 13, from 6:30 to 11:00 p.m. in the Count Basie Ballroom at the Kansas City Downtown Marriott Hotel, 200 W. 12th Street, Kansas City, Missouri. This annual event, held during National Telecommunicator Week, honors the nearly 600 professional men and women who answer over two million 9-1-1 calls in the Kansas City region.

The evening will include dinner, entertainment, dancing, prizes and more. The registration fee is $10.00 per person and free parking is available at the Marriott and municipal parking garages.

Chris Pisano, KCTV5 news anchor, will serve as master of ceremonies for the event. Chris has been a member of KCTV5 since March of 2003. He co-anchors KCTV5 News This Morning and KCTV5 News at Noon. Chris hails from Feeding Hills, Massachusetts. Prior to coming to Kansas City, he anchored news broadcasts in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Macon, Georgia. Chris attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism/Political Science. He also attended Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts participating in the graduate broadcasting program.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to win prizes donated by local companies. Nearly 30 local companies have donated prizes worth more than $1,000, including a digital camera, an MP3 player, movie theater tickets, comedy club tickets, a Dave and Buster’s gift certificate, a one-night stay at the Radisson Hotel, and much more. All telecommunicators attending the event will be entered in the drawing and have a chance to win the prizes. Winners are announced during the event. New prizes continue to arrive at the MARC offices each day.

Thanks to generous contributions by several corporate sponsors, the registration fee is still only $10.00 per person this year. Sponsors include Motorola, Commenco, Missouri Gas Energy, GeoComm, AT&T, J.E. Dunn and Sprint.

Register by March 21 and be entered to win a complimentary one-night stay at the Downtown Marriott on the evening of the event.
