MARC welcomes new Public Safety Program Director

August 9, 2007

MARC is pleased to announce that Keith Faddis joined the staff as director of the Public Safety Communications Program on August 6, 2007. Keith will oversee MARC’s efforts related to administration of the regional 9-1-1 system, communications interoperability, public safety training and outreach, and other related issues.

Keith is a Kansas City native, and he has lived in the metropolitan area all of his life. He graduated from the University of Missouri—Kansas City with a degree in political science, and joined the Overland Park, Kan., Police Department as a patrol officer in 1976. During the course of his career in Overland Park he moved up through the ranks, earning the title of deputy chief in 1998. Keith retired from the city of Overland Park in early August after 31 years of service.

Keith first became involved with MARC in the early 1990s while he was in charge of Overland Park’s communications unit, which included 9-1-1 services. In 1994, Keith was involved in installation of a new radio system, and more recently he worked on the implementation of the new CAD system and mobile data program that is being used by several police agencies in Johnson County.

“I look forward to working with our regional partners to continue to provide state-of-the-art 9-1-1 services to the residents of Greater Kansas City and enhance public safety communications capabilities across the region,” says Keith. He may be reached at 816/701-8211 or kfaddis@marc.org.
