Wireless 9-1-1 Funding a Hot Topic in MARC's 2009 Legislative Agenda

Kansas currently has wireline and wireless surcharges in place to support the 9-1-1 system throughout the state however, portions of the wireless funding will sunset in 2010. Missouri does not have wireless funding making it the only state that does not support the 9-1-1 system through a wireless surcharge. In an effort to improve services throughout the Kansas City region and both states MARC is supporting legislation to extend the sunset in Kansas and create a wireless surcharge in Missouri.
