Professional Development Series

Being in a leadership position in a public safety agency is a demanding role that requires not only technical savvy, but also the ability to supervise a team of people who regularly handle life-or-death situations.

The 2009 Professional Development Series will focus on recent disasters and events that inundated local 9-1-1 systems with calls and how dispatchers were able to relay information to first responders. Sessions this year will also focus on the future of 9-1-1 and the challenges that come with new technology. The practices and techniques learned in these classes will compliment the technical skills professional public safety communicators learn on the job and in formal training.

This year’s Professional Development Series classes will feature catered lunches at the Mid-America Regional Council offices. As always, the series courses will be led by experts in their fields from a variety of backgrounds.
